Sammie Clayton Sterling

Sammie Clayton Sterling passed away on March 17, 2024 in Fairfield, Texas, surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Justin Colquette, officiating.  Interment will follow at Wortham Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service, starting at 1:00 p.m.

Sammie was born in Bremond, Tx and moved to Wortham in the early 1980’s.  He received his GED after school and then went on to serve in the Air force-Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from H & B packing company in Waco, Tx as a Butcher after 36 years. He was married to Faye in July of 1956. 

Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, George Minnard Sterling and Ethel Benard Wiley; his wife Faye of 47 years, siblings, daughter Brenda; Son, Gary; grandson Gary and great grandchildren Kenner and Rylance. He is survived by Sandra and Paul Robinson of Streetman, Vickie and Rusty Beene of Teague, Alton (Bubba) of Waco, Ronnie and Donna Sterling of Wortham, Lisa McAdams of Wortham, and Kim and Trent Taylor of Alvarado; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dorothy Sterling of Waco, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Kody Beene, Paul David Robinson, David Allan Robinson, Hunter Sterling, Vantley Kelley and Kyle McAdams. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Alan Knight, Ronnie Sterling, Peyton Calame and Kohan Calame.
